CityBike Scheme comes to Tuebrook

Our Labour Council's popular CityBike scheme has been a massive success since it's launch in May and local campaigner Carol Sung is delighted to announce Tuebrook as the latest site for the bikes.

The scheme is the largest cycle hire scheme outside of London and since its launch three months ago the bikes have been used almost 10,000 times. Mayor Joe Anderson, said: “I know a lot of people use Citybike to get to work, go to the shops or for the simple pleasure of cycling often in our great parks."The first station has already been installed in Newsham Park on Gardner's Drive, with a further station proposed for West Derby Road.

Carol added, "I'm delighted that Tuebrook residents are going to benefit from the cycle hire scheme. It offers a fantastic way to get around the city while also being cheap, green and good for your health. Once again, Liverpool's Labour Council is delivering for the people of Tuebrook!"

Local MP Stephen Twigg was delighted that Tuebrook was being covered by the scheme. "This is a new and exciting era for transport in Tuebrook and one which I hope will be taken up by the local residents."

The bikes cost £3 a day to hire with a £1-an-hour charge for any cycling time over two hours. A weekly hire costs £9 with an additional charge of £1 for every hour over four hours. Annual subscriptions are available for £60. For more information, visit their website: www.citybikeliverpool.co.uk
